Frequently Asked Questions

Every couple arrives with questions — usually the same brave handful, asked in different words. This page gathers them and answers them plainly: what the work is, what actually happens in a room with us, how privacy and consent are held, and how to begin.

Tantra.sg is a transformative intimacy and couples coaching practice in Singapore, offering private coaching, intimacy workshops, and weekend retreats, arranged by appointment in central Singapore. This page answers the questions couples ask most before beginning — what the work involves, how consent and privacy are held, and how to book.

About the Practice

What is Tantra.sg?

Tantra.sg is an intimacy and couples coaching practice in Singapore, offering private coaching, couples intimacy workshops, and weekend retreats, all arranged by appointment in central Singapore. The work draws on modern tantric practice and contemporary relationship coaching — conscious touch, breath, communication, and presence — taught privately to you and your partner. There is no public calendar and no room full of strangers; every session is shaped around the couple in it. Most couples begin with a short conversation on WhatsApp, and everything else is arranged from there.

What is intimacy coaching?

Intimacy coaching is guided, skills-based work that helps couples deepen their connection — through communication, conscious touch, and presence practices — with a coach beside you rather than a therapist across from you. Where therapy often looks backward to understand what went wrong, coaching looks forward to what you want to build. Sessions are practical: you learn a practice, try it together with guidance, and take it home. Over time the practices compound, and the way you touch, talk, and listen to each other changes with them.

What is modern tantra?

Modern tantra is a contemporary practice of presence, breath, and conscious connection, informed by — though not identical to — the classical tantric traditions of medieval India. Classical tantra emerged in India roughly between 500 and 1300 CE, and texts like the Vijñāna Bhairava Tantra, composed around the 7th to 9th centuries CE, taught meditative techniques for meeting ordinary experience with complete attention. What we teach is informed by that lineage but adapted for contemporary couples: no ritual apparatus, no doctrine, no required worldview. The heart of it survives the translation — the radical act of giving your whole attention to this moment and this person. It is a practice, not a belief system, and it is nondogmatic from start to finish.

Is tantra a religion?

Tantra as we teach it is a practice, not a religion — no belief is required, and nothing you already believe needs to move over. Historically, tantric traditions grew within Hindu and Buddhist contexts, and we hold that inheritance with respect. What we draw from those traditions is method rather than theology: attention, breath, and ways of being fully present with another person. Couples of every faith, and of none, work with us comfortably. If anything, the practices tend to deepen whatever already gives your life meaning.

Is this about sex?

It is about connection — presence, communication, trust, and the full spectrum of intimacy between two people. The word tantra is often associated with sexuality, and the practice does honour eroticism as one dimension of a couple's life together. But the work itself centres on conscious connection: how you touch, how you listen, how fully you show up for each other. Everything in our sessions happens clothed, and every practice is invitational. Couples usually find that when connection deepens, every other part of intimacy follows it.

Do you follow one school or method?

We work with a blend — practices drawn from tantric traditions alongside modern relationship coaching and somatic, body-based approaches. No single school holds a monopoly on connection, and different couples need different doors in. Some respond most to breath and stillness, others to communication frameworks, others to conscious touch. The blend lets us shape each session to the couple in front of us, rather than fitting the couple to a fixed curriculum.

Workshops

Are workshops private, or in a group?

Workshops are arranged privately — for a single couple, or for a small group of couples you invite. There is no open enrolment and no room full of strangers. Most couples choose the private format, where the guidance is entirely theirs; some invite two or three couples they trust for a shared experience. Either way, the room is always yours.

Do we need any experience?

Complete beginners are the norm — every practice is taught from the ground up, step by step, with no prior experience of tantra or meditation needed. Each exercise is explained, demonstrated, and then practised between the two of you with guidance beside you. Curiosity and a willingness to try are the only prerequisites. Couples regularly arrive knowing nothing and leave with practices they use at home that same evening.

What do we wear?

Comfortable clothing you can move and breathe in — that is all you need. Everything in a workshop happens clothed, so there is nothing special to buy or bring. Loose, soft layers work well, since sessions move between stillness and gentle movement. If in doubt, dress as you would for a relaxed yoga or meditation class.

How long does a workshop last?

A workshop typically runs three to four hours — long enough to go genuinely deep, short enough to stay fresh from beginning to end. The time moves through arrival, communication practices, embodied work, and integration. Because each workshop is arranged privately, the pacing adapts to you: some couples linger in one practice, others move through the full arc. Most are surprised how quickly the hours pass.

What if one of us is nervous?

Nervousness is welcome and completely normal — most couples arrive with one partner curious and the other cautious, and the workshop is built for exactly that. Nothing is sprung on you: every exercise is explained before it begins, and both of you choose your level of participation at each step. The early practices are gentle — breath, presence, conversation — and depth builds only at the pace you both set. In our experience, the cautious partner often relaxes within the first half hour, and is frequently the one who suggests coming back.

Can we book a workshop as a gift?

A workshop makes a beautiful gift — for an anniversary, a birthday, or simply because — and we arrange gifted sessions gladly. Message us and we will help you shape it: a private session for the two of you, or an experience for a couple you love. Because everything is by appointment, the recipients choose a time that truly suits them. The one thing we suggest is telling them what it is — the work goes deepest when both partners arrive by choice.

Do you run public events?

Everything at Tantra.sg is arranged privately, by appointment — there is no public calendar and there are no drop-in events. This is deliberate: intimacy work goes deepest in a room that belongs to you, not one shared with strangers. If you would like a group experience, you invite the couples and we bring the guidance. To arrange something, simply start a conversation on WhatsApp or through the contact page.

Coaching & Retreats

How is coaching different from therapy?

Coaching is forward-looking and skills-based — it builds capacity in couples who are fundamentally well, while therapy is clinical treatment for distress, delivered by licensed professionals. In coaching you spend most of the time practising with each other, guided in real time, rather than talking about the relationship. The two can complement each other, and we are glad to work alongside a couple's therapist. If clinical support ever seems the better first step, we will say so warmly and plainly.

How many sessions do couples usually take?

As many as genuinely serve you — some couples come for a short series to learn the core practices, others continue for months because the work keeps opening. There is no fixed package and no minimum commitment. A single session teaches something complete in itself; a series lets the practices compound. After a first conversation we will suggest a shape, and you adjust it as you go.

Can individuals come, or only couples?

Individuals are welcome — many people begin alone, learning presence and communication practices they later bring into a relationship. The heart of the practice is connection, and connection starts with how you inhabit yourself. Some individual clients are preparing to invite a partner; others are between relationships and building capacity for the next one. Whatever brings you, sessions are shaped to you exactly as they would be for a couple.

What happens on a retreat?

A retreat is the immersive form of the work — you and your partner step out of daily life and into an unbroken stretch of guided practice, rest, and time together. The days weave the same threads as workshops and coaching — breath, conscious touch, eye contact, communication — but with room to go further, because nothing is waiting at home in an hour. There is unhurried time between sessions to walk, rest, and let the practices settle. Couples describe a retreat less as an event than as a turning of attention that persists after they return.

How long is a retreat?

Retreats run over a weekend — typically two to three days, long enough for the practices to settle in and become yours. The arc matters more than the hours: arrival and softening at the start, the deepest work in the middle, and integration before you return home. Because retreats are arranged privately, the exact shape flexes around the two of you. Some couples extend the weekend into a longer getaway around it, especially those travelling to Singapore.

Do we need a workshop before coaching or a retreat?

Any door works — you can begin with a workshop, with coaching, or go straight to a retreat, and none of them requires another first. They are three formats of one practice, not levels to progress through. A workshop suits couples who want a single deep afternoon; coaching suits those who want the work woven into their weeks; a retreat suits those ready to immerse. If you are unsure, tell us what you are hoping for and we will suggest the door that fits.

Comfort, Consent & Privacy

Is everything confidential?

Everything you share with us stays with us — who you are, why you came, and what happens in your sessions are held in full confidence. Discretion is built into how the practice runs: sessions are private, arranged by appointment, and there is no public event where you might be seen. We do not publish client stories or identifying details. Many couples value that the entire experience — from first message to final session — happens quietly, on their terms.

How does consent work in sessions?

Consent is the foundation that makes depth possible — every exercise is explained before it begins, and both partners choose their level of participation at every step. This is not a disclaimer; it is the engine of the work. Depth requires safety, and safety is built explicitly before anything else happens. Couples often discover that asking, offering, and receiving a clear yes is itself one of the most intimate practices they learn. The asking travels home with them, and it changes more than the exercises do.

Can we stop or adjust an exercise?

At any moment, either of you can pause, adjust, or step out of an exercise — no explanation needed, and no awkwardness made of it. The facilitator simply meets you where you are and reshapes the practice. Stopping is not failing; it is information, and often the doorway to a more honest version of the same practice. Knowing the exit is always open is precisely what lets couples go further than they expected.

Will we be asked to share personal details in a group?

Sharing is always by invitation, never by requirement — in group settings, nothing personal has to be spoken aloud. Most of the work happens between you and your partner, not in front of others. When group reflection is offered, you choose what to voice, and passing is always a complete answer. Couples who prefer total privacy simply book the private format, where the room holds only the two of you.

Is anything explicit?

Everything in our sessions happens clothed, and every practice is invitational — nothing explicit or performative is part of the work. The intensity lives in the attention, not in exposure: sustained eye contact, synchronized breath, conscious touch on hands, arms, face, and shoulders. What couples find is that presence itself carries more charge than they expected. Anything you choose to explore beyond the sessions belongs to you, at home, in your own time.

What if we've been through a rough patch?

Coaching is forward-looking, and many couples arrive after a hard season, ready to rebuild closeness — that readiness is a fine starting point. What matters is where you are now: if the storm has passed and you both want to reconnect, the practices meet you there. If you are in acute distress — ongoing conflict, a betrayal still raw, or concerns about either partner's wellbeing — that work belongs first with a licensed therapist, and we say that with warmth rather than as a closed door. Many couples do both, and we are glad to be the place you practise what you are rebuilding.

Booking & Practicalities

How do we book?

Message us on WhatsApp at +65 8299 1292, or write through the contact page — every session is arranged by appointment, starting with a short conversation. Tell us what you are drawn to and your rough availability. We reply personally, suggest a shape, and arrange a time that suits you both. There is no automated funnel — just a conversation that becomes a booking.

a conversation WhatsApp or contact page shaped to you your session central Singapore practices at home
From first message to lasting practice — booking begins with a conversation, and the work continues at home long after the session ends.

Where are you located?

Sessions are held in central Singapore, and the exact location is shared with you when you book. Keeping the address private until then is part of how we protect the discretion of everyone who works with us. The space is quiet, comfortable, and easy to reach from anywhere in the city. Retreat settings are discussed individually with each couple.

How far in advance should we book?

A week or two of notice usually gives us room to arrange a time that truly suits you, though shorter notice is often workable — just ask. Because everything is by appointment rather than on a public calendar, flexibility runs in both directions. Couples planning a retreat, or timing a session around a trip to Singapore, benefit from writing a little earlier. If your dates are fixed, message us first and we will do our best to shape around them.

What languages do you work in?

Sessions are conducted in English. Clear communication matters in this work, and everything — instructions, practices, and conversation — is offered in warm, unhurried English. Couples for whom English is a second language do well here, because practices are demonstrated as much as they are described. If you have any concern about language, mention it when you write and we will pace things accordingly.

Do you see couples from outside Singapore?

Yes — visiting couples regularly arrange sessions around a trip to Singapore, and some plan the trip around a retreat. A workshop folds beautifully into a holiday: one afternoon of depth in the middle of your travels. Message us with your travel window and we will arrange a session within it. Everything you learn travels home with you, whichever country home is.

How do we know if this is right for us?

Start with a conversation — a few messages on WhatsApp are usually enough to tell whether this is your kind of work, and there is no obligation in asking. Tell us honestly where you are and what you are hoping for. If we think another kind of support would serve you better, we will say so. The couples who thrive here share one thing: they want more with each other and are willing to practise for it. If that sounds like you, the conversation is the right next step.

A question we haven't answered?

Ask us directly — we reply personally, and a few messages are usually all it takes to know whether this is your kind of work.
